20 June 2006:

Wow, where does the time go?

The big news is that Exodus, EP2, had a major disaster. Through a bit of sheer bad luck, two months of project files vanished in a hard drive crash. We've been working hard to recreate them but we are behind schedule. Currently, we expect the first CD to be released before July.

On a brighter note more talented voice actors have joined the crew and their talent continues to impress me.

9 May 2006:

Episode 2 production is slowly moving along.  The pace is below what we'd hoped for but the final product seems to be shaping up nicely.  We've been getting inquiries for about three weeks now asking "Where is the next episode!?!!"  Apologies to all who are anxious to hear the next chapter.  We hope you'll find it was worth the wait.

We've also decided to press forward with development of the prequel series first mentioned on the Exodus Intro page in Dec 2005. After months of consideration, we opted to go ahead and develop two series simultaneously.  Cylon.org's Peter Noble will be spearheading this effort.

AllGalactica.com has started a board to allow discussions of Exodus and the prequel series and allow listeners to better provide feedback for the production as well as discuss elements of the productions.  The board is located at http://www.allgalactica.com/board/

19 Apr 2006:

After almost a month delay we are finally off and running with episode 2.  Its proving to be a far more ambitious project than episode 1 but its coming together nicely and we're using the experiences from doing the first one as best we can.  Over the past few weeks, I completely reworked the first two tracks of episode 1.  I replaced all of the narration of track 1 along with about 1/2 of the sound effects as well as adding many many more.  I also reworked half of the second track.

Following a suggestion submitted by one of our listeners, I created this CD coverart for episode 1:

20 Mar 2006:

Lots of activity going on.  The first episode was completed and released and has garnered strong, supportive reviews but I (the producer) wasn't entirely happy with the narration on the first track of the first CD.  So, I've rerecorded it and will rework the introduction track to better align it with the rest of the episode.  While this is under reconstruction, I'll also take the chance to enhance the sound effects.

We began production of episode 2 began last week and I'm very happy with the beginning recordings.  Some very talented people have volunteered their time to make this a success and I'm confident their skills and creativity will show in the final products.

A few weeks ago, we decided to add at least one more episode to accommodate a new storyline that we felt would greatly contribute to the overall series.  We're considering adding three others and perhaps more.

Recently, I discussed the parallels of Exodus story ideas that seem to appear in the new series with the television series producer Ron Moore.  Ron assured me that the parallels are purely coincidental and I accept his explanation.  For our part, we will continue to try to ensure that Exodus provides unique entertainment for its listeners.

22 Jan 2006:

Scheduling conflicts have delayed some of the production efforts for a month.  Consequently, we've released the first 3 tracks of the second CD in Episode 1 for folks to enjoy.

Some listeners have told us that they are using slower internet connections.  Since the audio files are encoded at CD Quality, they are larger than some people can effectively download.  To compensate for this, we've encoded the previously released tracks at FM Quality, which has reduced the overall file size.  We haven't detected any change in sound quality.  Until further notice, The Exodus Series will be made available at both levels of encoding.

3 Jan 2006:

Episode 1 of The Exodus Series continues to garner praise from members of the online fandom.  Its shortfall so far hasn't been its content or choice of exploring an alternate direction to expand on the original series but simply the challenges of getting the word out to the fans.  Since the Galactica fanbase is fairly compartmented, relaying awareness of the effort has been a slow process, especially given that it was released during the Holidays.

The last few days have been a boon for script development.  We've made great refinements to the Episode 2 script and made significant progress on the Episode 6 script. As the producer, I am very pleased with the story developments in both of these episodes and am looking forward to getting them out to the fans.

19 Dec 2005:

18 Dec 2005:

With one day left before the release, we've finished CD#1.  This has been tweaked somewhat since the preview release.  This project has been an educational adventure every step of the way.  We've bumbled across several "bumps" in compiling a CD that we weren't fully expecting.  Making a full CD is quite different than merely compiling the individual audio tracks.  Luckily, we worked it all out and Exodus, Episode 1, CD#1 will be released on time.

We've asked www.Cylon.org, www.ColonialFleets.com, and the Ship of Lights Board to co-host the audio files to try to distribute the bandwidth load when Exodus is released.  Since the series is freely available to all fans, anyone wishing to help out can simply download the files, host them on their server, and let everyone know where to get them.

9 Dec 2005:

Today we're releasing the  Episode 1 preview.  We hope you enjoy this small glimpse into the upcoming series and welcome your comments.

4 Dec 2005:

Today we completed the rough cut of Episode 1, CD #1 (CD1-01).  This was a mixed bag of glee and frustration.  The schedule called for this CD to be finalized tomorrow (5 Dec) but we were delayed by work schedules and the cold and flu season. For the most part, things are still progressing well.  Tracks 1 and 2 on this CD have been combined.  In its final form, the CD will be a four track venture running around 50 minutes.  We project the release date for CD1-01 to be 19 Dec 05, still in time for Christmas.  The CD will be free for download in both .mp3 and audio CD format.

I've gotten a lot of inquiries as to the exact nature of The Exodus Series.  Most believe it will be a parallel to the Viper pilots blasting Cylons theme so popular in other Galactica fan efforts.  I've had to politely inform these fans that Exodus is a far different storyline.  Some inquisitive fans discovered an old script posted on Cylon.org that carried the same name as Exodus and believed that to be the tale of Episode 1.  The storyline that will premiere in Dec 05 is totally different than any publicly released script or idea.

Episode 1 follows the experiences of Pythagorus, a pacifist-scholar on Sagitarra who has dedicated his life to opposing the war-like nature of his society.  He blames his own culture for their hard-lined approach to the Cylon threat and is frustrated by their unwillingness to recognize their role in promoting a continuing war that has claimed millions of human lives and flipped a formerly artistic society upside down.  When the Cylons overrun his planet, he is forced to evaluate what he really believes and whether he is willing to sacrifice his life to follow those principles.

Pythagorus is thrust into a scenario beyond his imagination and finds himself fighting a Cylon adversary on battlegrounds he hitherto could only barely contemplate.  Through his eyes, we learn the true nature of the Cylon threat and the real history behind the Cylons themselves.  We learn what makes them glare at mankind and see nothing more than a race that must be exterminated at all costs.

Episode 1 will run 3 CDs total for an estimated length of 2 1/2 hours.  The tale flushes out many of the aspects of Colonial society previously only hinted at and dives deeper into the world of the Cylons than any production has ever attempted.
